Smile Hey people

Hey there, My name is Chris, i'm 18 And for no reason at all I decided I would learn to play the guitar. My dad can play a little bit, and enjoys just having a strum now and then so he talked me into getting started. It looks easy but god let me tell you my fingers are hurting after only two days.

I am borrowing my dads two guitars, one an electric Westone Thunder I-A and the other his acoustic. To be honest i started out just playign around with the electric, though i much prefer the sound of the acoustic so i'm going to carry on with it.

Anyways, I'm just learning how to play G,D and Am at the moment like it shows in Kirks Beginner lesson so i will keep you all updated with my progress througout and it's nice to be here.

Chris

If you notice any spelling mistakes, its because my fingers are sore from learning the guitar.

Hi Chris! That's why I got started on guitar too...my dad talked me into it. hehe

My fingers were sore all the time when I first started and well, I haven't been playing that long either (umm...on and off since last march, but really seriously for the past few months), but it's gets easier on your fingers when you start to build caluses.

Howdy Chris,

Those fingers will get harder in time, keep up the good work- A G D are good chords to learn, so your on a good start. Have you checked out Captian Kirks beginner lessons?- http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/fo...splay.php?f=34

Good luck with you playing,
We would love to see your gear.

Cheers,

Jean

As requested here are the images of my Dads guitars, that he is letting me use to practice. He said when i get better i can maybe go out and buy some better ones because these are dated and probably don't sound as good as some newer ones.

Anyways:

Hi Blue Banana. You should formaly introduce yourself in the introduction forum so you don't get missed. Welcome.
Sometimes guitars that have been aged( played for many years) can sound better than new more expensive models. Tone improves with age on a well played guitar.
