hiya!

I'm dee,
iv been playin for a year exactly and im more or less an intermediate guitar player....i guess....well i have alot of rock songs under my belt including little wing if u wish to count tht and i am in 2 bands and yup have even come up with a couple of songs...even though iv just started learnin improvising and scales .. but i still need help with theoryyyyyyyy umm yeah i know most of the basic stuff but i really dont understand circle of fifths!!!!just that u take a note and list the major scale for tht note and find the fth note and continue on like tht but i reaaaaly dun see how it tells you the key of the song
anyway!!i'll post the rest of my probs on the correct thread

Sounds like your more than ready to buy Kirks Plane Talk material. It will clear up a lot of practical music theory questions as well as greatly sharpening your improv skills.
5ths can be handy in writing tunes for chord choices. I think of V chords as one part of The I,IV,V chord progression. I have pretty much memorized them, a simple memonic is all thats needed. Since most tune are written in or a variation of this structure, it can really help you keep track of what's going on in a tune. There have been a couple of posts here about them. Do a search if your interested.
