I was playing about 2 years before that but now ive to learn my hand again to hit the right notes im lucky enough to have an Acoustic and electric Guitars and want to start playing again after a long lay off and all the opps on my hand anyhow enough of the waffle great site and im sure i will learn things again as i go on
You sound like a good candidate to take up slide guitar, with a damaged left hand. Less dexterity is required ... it's more of an arm thing really, moving that slide around ... and it's FUN.
Im going for the full hog mate finger slide picking ive just to build up the muscle in my arm and get my fingers moving i used to love playing and miss it loads but saying that seeing my Guitars at home while excercising my hand made me do it even more just so i could get back to playing them . ive got a couple of tickets to go see David gilmore in June and can't wait .

Keep twangin'!
Thanks for the support guys realy appreciated my rig consists of a 1981 usa Fender Strat a 6 string Acoustic . A fender twin amp far too big for my home lol a small 25watt practice amp and a boss gt-8 effects proccesor which i got off a mate who bought it last year and couldnt work it out lol . i work out my hand with a ball of wax everyday and practice playing my acoustic till it gets too much . I have two metal plates in my arm and a lot of muscle missing but i.ll work round that by holding the Guitar neck closer to my head .
dora i think i have every pink floyd album and cd. Ive seen David play before live and he's Brilliant i love him playing wish you were here and with a bit of luck fingers crossed sometime this year ill try to play it myself ive downloaded the tabb for it allready lol .
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
