Hi guys

I just stumbled across this great site. Kudos to all you helpful, friendly and patient folks who make this a special place. I'm still finding my way around here. This is my first venture into such a forum. So, if I make mistakes, I'm a Newbie.
I'm a Boomer who got started late. Can't play much yet, but the progress is steady and every little improvement motivates me to practice more.
I have a question about guitar ergonomics. I am 5"7" and about 145lbs. Most guitars are just too big for me. Is that a complaint others have when they are new at playing? It won't stop me playing, but I'm always looking for a more comfortable axe. Thanks all.

Hi dundee.

Don't worry if you make mistakes, we're a forgiving bunch (initially anyway)

You're not alone with the guitar size issue, it has been brought up a few times here already and there are smaller guitars you can buy (both electric and acoustics) with either shorter necks or smaller bodies or both.

Here's a thread discussing small electric guitars.

If you are after an smaller acoustic, there are also many of those available.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. Nice to have you here.

Clancy

For acoustics, you might want to look at parlour guitars, they have smaller bodies than the average guitars. Keep in mind that Angus Young of AC/DC is 5 ft nothing and plays a full size SG. He has had to adapt his playing a bit. For instance, when he does vibratos he shakes his whole body, not just his hand to help reinforce the moves.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
