Cool new beyond player

Hi everybody! I just so happened to land on this sight by accident one day. So glad I did. I have been playing guitar for over 18 years and currently own eight guitars.I would consider myself a total guitar fanatic. I practice an average of 4 hours a day. I studied classical guitar for about seven years before branching out into some other styles such as fingerstyle jazz and DADGAD. I worked at the Larrivee factory in Vancouver,B.C for three years before playing professionally. I play mostly in small clubs and cafes. Favorite guitarists, Leo Kottke,Mark Hanson,Chet Atkins,Lenny Breau,Sabicas, John Williams. I just finished building a nice om style guitar. It was a two year project, but well worth it. Nice German Spruce top and Koa back and sides, with a two inch wide fretboard. Looking forward to maybe getting some e-mails from other serious players out there. It's time to go play! Don C.

Hi Don ... another Canadian! Are you still in Vancouver? I returned from a year long stay there last May, White Rock to be precise.

It's good to have someone join up with that many years under their strap. Feel free as a bird to answer any questions ... especially as it sounds like you must know a whole lot about guitar construction, fixing, setting up etc. Also, we'd love to hear you! If you have any mp3s you'd like to share, we're all ears.

Happy New Year!

Would it at all be possible to see a picture of the guitar you built. Anything that took that long to build should be appreciated. I for one would appreciate seeing a picture.

Hi Kirk. Thanks for the reply. I am currently living out in the Fraser Valley. I don't consider myself an expert by any stretch when it comes to lutherie. I had alot of help building my guitar from a local luther in New Westminster. I just have some cabinet building skills and took my time. It's not a perfect guitar by any means but it sure sounds sweet. Just a little sidenote Kirk. I played one of Greg Smallwood's classical guitars a couple of weeks ago. Spruce Top, LAMINATED ROSEWOOD back and sides, balsawood bracing and super thin top. I almost dropped it when I played the first note. With out a doubt the most unbelievable classical guitar I've ever played. The projection was mind boggling. So much for lousy plywood guitars!! By the way, 13,000 Canadian. Don C.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
