Hello and Welcome to both of you.
This website is as good a place as any to get started.
Suffer through the sore fingers and bad sounds and before you know it, the fingers stop hurting and you start sounding like a musician.

There's a good place then ... learn E and A. Then learn G, C, D. They are the so called open chords.

Then group them into:

A - D - E
G - C - D

Each of those represent the I-IV-V chords of their respective keys. I-IV-V chords are the basis of just about every piece of music ever written, even if sometimes heavily disguised or hidden away amongst other stuff.

There are some pictures of how to hold them down here. Use the letters to navigate.

The other thing to grok is that all of those chords are major which means they all have the same flavor, even if they look different.

Start with the Read Me First link in blue with the arrow at the top of the main page. It has a lot of basic lessons to get you going.
