Newbie But Oldie

Hello fellow gutarists,
I came here as I need answers to chord identity.
I learned guitar on my own back in '62 and a year later the Beatles appeared on the scene and I was hooked.I learned most of my chords through Beatle song books and the most comprehensive and accurate
Compleat Beatles 1 and 2 by Milton Okun. I play by ear,(no jokes) and never have learned the names of the more progressive chords but I use them alot. To search out the diagrams of chords i use is too time consuming when i am inspired to play.
Today, I used a chord that I wish to add to lyrics but don't know what it is called. It's an Fmaj position but with an open 1st E. Anyone?
Thanks. Next time I will post in the appropriate forum.

Would that be an Fmaj7?

I'm pretty new to this whole thing, so we might want to wait on someone who actually has a clue. In the meantime, google "Fmaj7" and see if that's what you want.

I read somewhere that learning to play was a sort of negotiation between you and your guitar. I now believe it.

Fmaj7 I would think. The 1st open string would be a natural 7.

Welcome, Misha. I'd vote for Fmaj7 also, since that open E is the seventh of F. Plenty of great guitar resources here, hope you stay a while.
