Hi again, I always load the songs I want to learn onto my mp3 and listen to them a few times to get the strum pattern, I'm not a great strummer at the moment it's all a question of timing, practice your up and down strokes 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and you should get a bit of rythmn going, it might be worth you getting a metronome to keep the beat but first follow allthumbs advice and check out the lessons allthumbs is a lot more experienced than me so always worth listening to.

Cheers

Chris

Welcome..I have been beating my brains out with strum patterns for six months..somedays I got it.. other days... oh, well. Good luck, you're not the only one who has troubles, and you are no longer alone.

Welcome to GFB&B, John. Like you, I started as a teen and gave up, only to pick the guitar up again later in life (8 months ago). This is a great place to learn, you'll find a lot of very useful lessons and many friendly, helpful and knowledgeable people. Enjoy!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
