Hey there

Hey, My names Ben ^_^

I'm from Australia, just got sent the site by a friend.
I'm going out today to buy my first guitar.

Been wanting to play for about 4 years now but never got around to it. (mostly due to parents forbidding me to buy one hehe)

Well, thats me.

This is where I start to look stupid.
I don't know much about guitars, I know electric and acoustic. That's about all.
I really have my heart set on this black and white and yellow electric the shop I'm going to has.

When I get back I'll upload a picture of it.

You should seek some advice here first and read about buying a guitar in the tech forum. I hope you have a knowledgeable friend going with you.

Nothing stupid about being honest, nice of your friend to go with you and offer advice. Looking forward to some pictures.

Stay away from starter packs. The amps are usually really poor. I'm glad you have somebody who can steer you in the right direction. Solid top acoustics have better tonal qualities than laminates. Watch out for the exact wording. They can get sneaky to make you think your buying a solid top rather than a laminate. Find a guitar you like and if it is one of many or the store can order it for you, leave it, come back home and search for reviews about it so you know what your getting.

I picked myself up an Ashton AG131, at the recommendation of my friend and the shopkeep for the best one available for my price range at the store.

Its black, I love the look of it. I read a few reviews when i got home, and i think i did ok for the amount i spent.

I can play 3 chords and 2 scale things too thanks to my mate. ^_^

Will post a pic tomorrow when i get my camera out
