may I introduce myself

Whatsoever,
IŽam Ralf. Naugrim is the nick. I chose the guitar as my instrument a few years ago. In times long ago I played the Bass and liked it. Then I had to take care of job and family and let the music down. Then these few years ago, my lady let me down and I took up the guitar, to learn how to express my Blues. But I am as german as one can tell and Blues is possibly not the word you would take describing the sounds I produce.
This is not my fault at all. I want to "play" the music. ThatŽs all. I found at a time this PT thing and found it helpful but not that much useful as many other people here tell for their case. This is of course my fault. I know what the PT thing said about practicing hard. But when my working day is done my fingers hurt a lot. Practicing hurts in this context even more. IŽm always short on practice.
So much for now.
My English is quite an improvsation in a key IŽam not really used to, so maybe it sounds funny. But sotosay I have fun trying it.

Hi Ralf. Why don't you join the P.T. forum. Maybe we can help with some of your concerns.Just email Kirk with the password you want to use there. Buying his book makes you a member.

I´m a member in the forum for a good time now but I don´t really like it. Sorry! Something like to much of the same to me I suppose. Every time I take a look I find no news that catch me. The best part seem to be the Kirk Lorange Fan Club Fraktion. No Joke. He deserves it all. But rather would I grap my guitar and work out, than to read how wonderful the method is. This I know already.
This forum is different to me. It gives me an nice feeling to find a lot of not so young people here. When I was twenty, all learning was such a lot easier then it is today. A lesson that I once did in an afternoon takes me two weeks nowadays. It is not about my fingers but my brain that keeps me slow. I would believe that other fourtyandaboves have much the same experience.
I hope that on this this ground I find support, I do not expect from the most of the younger poeple, when at a time frustration hits me.
Of course to read this site brings me back to the PT forum and I will shurely look into that more frequently than I did.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway

Hi naugrim.

It sounds to me like you're a little too early in your playing for PlaneTalk. I do try and make it clear at the site that it's not for beginners, but for those who have all the basics under control and are now looking to the next stage ... fretboard freedom. I guess you missed that warning.

There's a lot of good info here, but I'm afraid it's all going to take practice and repetition, and lots of it.

We're all very flattered at the PT forum that you think we're young! I'm not sure what gave you that impression, but we'll live with it. This forum is much younger over all.

I notice you haven't asked one question at the PlaneTalk forum ... questions are good.

Anyway, welcome to this forum, see how you go here.

I remember being young. Barely. That was 30 or 40 years ago.

About the age. It´s easy to see that a part of the people in the PT Forum are also in here. But here I found that the age is a thing they talk about and that felt well to me.

About Kirk´s posting. It´s not that simple that I should count as a beginner. I know a lot and know it well about musik theory. I DO practice a lot. I read the book and saw the video and understood it. There are no Questions in my mind that I should ask. It just doesn´t come together. That is quiet normal to me,and has to do with that ADD that is a part of me. I don´t want to bore anyone and this is not interesting anyone but maybe these who share it. I will have to hang on, that is all that works. In that Kirk is right: I´m not ready. But not because I do not understand. It was always puzzeling to me to feel quiet lost but when I let loose and my fingers did it on their own, I was able to impress people that where really good. But I couldn´t do it for a second time.
At last. It´s all about the fun.
