Hi Guys and Gals

Hello all,

I have just started to play. slowly trying to learn. The big issue i seem to encounter is fret positions and landing on the right strings when trying to play cords.

Guess i need a lot more practice. If anyone has any ideas on how to improve my issue please feel free to let me know. Any and all help is appreciated.

Trust me I need all I can get. I'm starting the learning game at almost 37 and I know there are kids that can run rings around me after a handfull of lessons.

To any Newbie that reads this... keep up the hard work because i have seen the results of practice and the sore fingertips and hours, weeks and months of hard work really pay off.

Good Luck to you all

Welcome Scanner. Don't worry, soon you'll be nailing those chords with your eyes closed.

  I Figured it out

I finally figured out why i end up fat fingering the cords.

The Guitar i got was a hand made one from the Philippines. It is beautiful and has great sound and feel but.... The neck of the Guitar tapers so at the low end of the neck is narrow and the strings are close togeather. My fat fingers cant miss 2 or more strings at a time.

I think I need to invest in another guitar. This time I will get a normal classical guitar where the neck of the guitar does not taper so I have even spacing between the strings the whole length of the fret board.

Yes i know it is a common mistake that Green Horns like me make because of purchasing without seeking advice.

I will now hang my head in shame

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
