New!!!

Hey everyone, I just started playing 3 days ago and I dont know where to start. I didnt wanna
do nothing so I started learning smoke on the water. I was just wondering what I should begin with and what are some easy songs. Oh and i'm having trouble putting my fingers on multiple frets at once any advice? Thanks.

Hi SwissCheese (mmm, just typing that is making me hungry)

If you've just started, check out this thread - that'll help you to find your way around the site and forum.

House Of The Rising Sun is apparently one of the easier lessons to start off with.

Welcome! Glad you joined us.

Clancy

Welcome,
Once you learn a few chords a couple of easy strumming songs are:
Every Rose Has a Thorn
Knocking on heavens door
There is even a strummed version of House of the rising sun.
Here is a link to that one with video lesson

Scroll down to Littlebrother's post.(check out the flatpicking video in his second post)

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
