Hi There - New Member

Hi There Everyone, I'm new to this whole guitar thing and am frustrated that I can't find someone local to get lessons from. I am hoping that this site will help and encourage me.
I was given a guitar by my husband for Christmas (he is a musician - country - and does extremely well) and am now trying to do something with it. John cant teach me as he is self taught, and doesn't know how to teach a beginner. He's shown me a few things, but I need to learn from the very basics, and I think he takes those things for granted now, which is only natural. I can't wait to get into it and hope you all don't mind me being here.

Thanks Allthumbs - I'll have a look at it now. I'm really excited about starting the guitar. So much so that I even filed my acrylic nails so they are a much better length - that was when John knew I was serious, hehe.

Hi there happy plinker and welcome to the forum. What's your husbands name? We know quite a few Aussie musos, maybe we know him.

Hi Clancy
He's in the country music scene - John Callaghan. He actually writes a lot of songs about places and history. At the end of the week he is being flown to Coolgardie in Western Australia to play for their centenary. He wrote a song many years ago called "The Ballad of Varishetti" and it has again become quite popular since the miner were trapped in the mine in Tasmania about a year ago. The song is about a miner being trapped back in 1907.
John also wrote a song for the West Coast Eagles called Waltzing Matera (written for Peter Matera who was big in football at the time). He also wrote a song called "C'Mon Australia" when we were going for the America's Cup (and won) a while ago.

No I don't know the name happy_plinker ... but it's great to hear that he's found success here in the music biz. It's a hard one to crack. Good for him! and nice to have you here on the forum.
