solid wood will enhance the "depth" of tone over the years but you have to play it to "open" it up.
in other words a solid top left for years in a closet won't really be much better, if at all.

48, started learning/playing when i was about 14-15.

the positives i've read/heard about the Agiles far outweigh those about the Epi's, especially since they started making them in China.

I'm not saying that all Epi's are bad or that China produces bad instruments, just that i've heard that QC seemed to be slipping a bit.
I'm also not sure if the Custom is made there or not.
Just make sure you check it out first or get it from someone with a good return policy.

I have been jonesing for an Epi BoneYard or an Elitist for quite a while now.
