Got my new slide

12 September 2006 - 02:59 PM

Hi Kirk,

I received my slide in the mail today and I'm very happy with it. I have a tapered glass slide that was flopping all over the place when I was wearing it on my pinky and it was just a nightmare. As I had hoped, the thicker portion of your slides gives a lot more control and does a nice job on those base strings.

Thanks,

Cliff

Muting

29 July 2006 - 06:24 PM

Kirk,

I was wondering if you could give some insight as to how you started muting. Was it when you started playing slide guitar or were you already muting with your regular fingerpicking? And when you started muting, were there any particular exercises that you practiced? My fingerpicking is limited to a few of the songs that you have taught on gfb and I don't try to do any muting (eventhough there are some strings that ring longer than they should):o .

Thanks,

Cliff

Slides

No sense trying to hide how little I know about slide guitar. I bought a ceramic slide which has a taper to it. My intuition tells me that the fatter part is closer to my hand but I seem to have more control with the thinner part closer to my hand. So which end should be up?
