About Me
I have played music since 1968. I started on woodwinds and eventually got to sax. I put the sax down after high school, but quickly picked it back up after playing guitar in a local band. I play fingerstyIe acoustic. I started playing rock and bluegrass at the same time. That made for some interesting jam sessions. I started playing country in the 80's to make money. Where I live, you could starve playing rock. Thank God that's changed. I'm doing solo/duo gigs, as well as playing in our band. I like the solo best. I get to play what I want and an occasional request. I also suffer from G.A.S. I've purchased 13 guitars in the last 12 months. That had me up to 12 a few times, but I've trimmed them down to 9, plus banjo. I think I'm about done buying guitars for a while. As far as my acoustic rig, I use a stereo chorus, plugged into two 30-watt Crate acoustic amps. I get this little "wall of sound". I play acoustic guitar solely. I also have a TA 200S Trace Acoustic amp I use when playing with the band. The thing weighs a ton. I own a Stratocaster. But, I would much rather play my acoustics. I try to stick to 70's and 80's material, but a lot of this new country isn't a lot different. My talent was given to me by God and I give it back playing in church. That is rewarding. If you played music today. You had a good day. Thanks, Mike.
