Hi guys- Well I'm now at 5 months. Still practicing regularly & doing a tad better but I do find it difficult. As I mentioned my short term memory is bad so thats a problem but I can do a few pieces that don't sound too bad. I did think I would be further along but so-be-it. Eddie & Karcey - I really appreciate the encouragement & support. Thanks Joe

I am now midway through my 8th week of returning to the guitar after a 50 some year layoff. Somewhat disappointed in that I cannot play anything that sounds pleasant. I seemed to improve for the first 6 weeks - by following a system book - & then I reached a level that I can't seem to get thru. Its an exersize mixing base & melody & I can play each separately but trying to combine the two is not going well. I'm supposed to get it right before moving on- The good news is I have been putting in at least an hour a day . Am I expecting too much or is my short term memory problems such that I will be delayed in normal progress? Maybe I pickled too many brain cells back in my vodka loving days. I am delaying seeing an instructor until I'm a place where I don't embarrass myself. Old Joe

I found a site online that demonstrates Moonlight Sonata that sounds like something I could handle but I need to see some sheet music or directions preferably in a key I can play in. I can do a bit of Clare de Lune to learn timing that almost sounds acceptable. Also I am working on something called "Time is On my Side" that my wife says "that's not too bad! Someone said I' not as bad as bagpipes. I sort of like bagpipes. Comes from the Scot Irish background I guess.

Karcey- thanks I'd appreciate what ever you could find- I have a couple i'm working on but.... It's frustrating
Eddie- cords, well ok on A, A7, D, D7, Em, E, E7, & real good on G but F, C, & G7 are giving me a lot of trouble. Short term memory is such that sometimes I have to look them up - other times no problem. Strumming is fair considering it was 50 years since I last played & have only been back practicing for 6 weeks- fingers just now getting firmed up.
But he has more hair...
