Hi all,

I've just come across this site and it's brilliant. So much information on here for me to learn. I suppose I'll inform you all regarding my guitar history so far...

I've always wanted to play the guitar but unfortunately never really got round to it until early this year (I’m 23 now) when I bought a Yamaha FG 750's acoustic guitar. My friend prior to this advised me to buy an acoustic first, which would then make electric, easier to play due to fretting being easier on electric etc.. I'm a massive Beatles fan so the majority of music I play is Beatles tunes. I only really played the guitar a few times a week and learning tracks like "Blackbird", "Dear Prudence" and "Julia".

In the last 3 weeks I've really wanted to start seriously improving my guitar skills. I’ve looked into chords and chord progression, scales, the major scale and chromatic scale. I've wanted to improve my theory so I can understand how and why. Last month my wife bought me an electric guitar - Ibanez SA 120 Black and I have a Marshall CDR 15 watt amp. I know I'll never be an amazing solo guitarist but it will be nice to play some of my favourite tracks. I much prefer to play chords and finger picking. My friend tells me that I'm very good at finger picking to say I've only been playing the guitar for 10 months on and off.

The reason I bought a guitar was so I could write songs mainly. I can quickly write songs that just seem to come to me and even better than that I have 1000's of catchy melodies in my head but unfortunately it's translating it onto the guitar that I struggle with. Hence the reason I'm looking into the theory side of it and learning loads of chords so I have the core requirements for a song.

Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself and I look forward to reading these forums and chatting with you people.

Thanks,

Roey
