Phil Keaggy is both known in the Acoustic Guitar world and the Christian music world. Check out this video to see how he uses an acoustic guitar & effects to create a one man band http://video.google....2&q=phil+keaggy

More about Phil Keaggy can be found at http://philkeaggy.com/bio/

I have had the pleasure of seeing him once. Maybe another time soon.

It was alright. .

Does anybody know the names of those recording/playback pedal things he was using, I have seen them used a lot in 1 person acoustic sets and might purchase that gadget myself.

Offtopic - Tommy Emmanuel is playing a couple of miles away this weekend, is he worth £16.50?

This performance by Phil Keagy starts out as ordinary; progresses to interesting, then to attention grabbing, moves on to jaw-dropping incredible, and approaches the conclusion as mind-blowing! There is a flase "urban legend" about him that attributes Jimmy Hendricks saying that phil is the best guitar player ever. Never happened. But If Jimmy had ever heard him play, he might have felt that way. And that with a missing finger on his picking hand too.

Phil is such an incredible talent! About ten years ago a friend & I went to one of his solo concerts. It was in a very large church north of Cincinnati. After the concert we tried to go back stage to see if we could meet him. Well, someone from the church that was acting as chauffer/stage manager/ travel agent/security guard stopped us and said Phil had already left.

Being the kind of person that just doesn't take no for an answer...at least the first time I hear it.... I took off for the opposite side of the church and let myself in another side door to the back stage area. We walked behind the stage area and down a hall to what was essentially the church office area. Looking through the glass windows of the reception area, we saw Phil standing there chatting with someone.
He saw us, smiled and walked over to the door.

"hey guys! Were you waiting for me?" Then before we could say yes, he blushed and stammered, "oh my gosh! How presumptuous of me! I'm sorry!" My buddy & I laughed and said that we indeed were looking for him. We got to chat with him for about 10 minutes. He talked about his Olson acoustic guitar and playing solo but that he was preparing a short band tour. He asked if we played and we told him about our church and doing a couple of his easier songs as specials. He seemed genuinely excited that someone would play his music as a special in church.

He then politely excused himself saying he had to get ready to go catch his flight home.

A few years later, my friend went to a neighboring town in Indiana to hear Phil play another solo concert. They got there very early and stopped at a little restaurant for a lite dinner. There was Phil and a couple of other people. Mike, my friend, waited until Phil was done eating then went over to say hello. Get this....Phil says to him that he looked familiar. Mike mentions the concert a few years prior and Phil lites up and asks if Mike was the guy that was a cop in Cincinnati!! (Mike had mentioned what he did for a living) He remembered the conversation!

Anyhow....Phil was really down to earth, friendly and of course, is a tremendous talent!

Just my little anecdote.

My husband and I are both big fans of Phil Keaggy. We've been privileged to see him in concert a couple times and he's just great. One concert he barely sang because of larangitis(sp?) or something like. It was slower paced being mostly instrumental, but still a great show.

Tommy Emmanuel is really entertaining! Like Phil Keaggy, he comes up with unusual ways to use his guitar.
