Hi,

Just me again.
This is just a short little etude my instructor gave me a while back.
I like the little tune and it is fun to play for me.
I think I am progressing ok but I still have a fear of the dreaded red recording light.
Think maybe I will paint it a nice light blue........................ :online2lo

A blue dot over the red would be perfect. That will get you back to the 50's for sure. We loved them til they became prohibited by law.

You play well, mate - wish I could pick like that...

As for fear of the 'deaded red light -' try this.... whenever you pick up your guitar for practice or whatever - record it. Every time without exeption, until it becomes normal that the red light is there.

Don't 'try' to make the recordings sound 'good' or 'a take' just record everything - after a while I'm betting the recordings will sound more natural and confident, and hopefully any nerves will be gone.

Also, try looking at it this way... the piece you recorded was 54 seconds long, even if you go for 50 takes you have only taken an hour over it. If you record to a click each time you'll definately have enough material to comp together the recording you want.

Actually that is what I have started doing and it has been getting a bit better. I am what I call a "closet player". I would go up to my music room , shut the door and practice. My wife had never heard me play before. Ever.

Then a few months ago I finally posted a short song and no one laughed or shot at me. So I posted one more.
Still no laughter or gunfire. This song was #4 and it is starting to be kind of fun.

A few months ago I took one of my guitars and found a spot for it downstairs and now I practice down there at times where my wife can listen. She doesn't laugh either but I do get some strange looks at times.

It is just part of who I am. In person I am very quiet and reticent to join in anything. However, playing, recording and posting tunes is beginning to be a bit of fun and it feels kind of nice when my wife or someone here says it sounds ok.

I'll keep working at it and try to have a bit of fun while doing it. It certainly is easier than it used to be.

I appreciate that and everyone's kind words.
I know at times it may sound like I am trolling for compliments but that isn't it. It is just that I listen to people in here
and I think, "Holy crap I wish I could do that." Some really good players and writers in here.
I am becoming more comfortable and pleased with my playing. I just wish I had started 50 years sooner and kept up with it.
Wirh age comes wisdom. Now I am old and the wisdom thing is questionable...................... :clown:

Sounds great Gasbag, nice playing, enjoyed this, it is more fun just leaving the recording button on, I've done it for a while as I used to tense up when I pressed the red button, it's much easier and less stressful letting it run and editing afterwards, good work on this tune, cool.
