Washtub Bass

Couple summers back I jammed with a guy at the Winthrop Bluz who played a washtub bass. I made m'self one shortly
after getting back home...haven't played it hardly at all except when I first put it together. I was foolin' around with it this mornin'
after listening to Johnny's diddley bow post.. A friend of mine showed up for coffee and visiting, so we tried to do a little tune.

No great amount of skill shown here by either one of us, especially me, lol. Fun stuff, though. ;)

Mighty fine Peyden. You're probably one of the few who have seen either a washtub bass or a diddley bow!

Seeing them and playin' them be two different things, lol. I found it hard to sing and play the thing at the same time, but
then this is the first time I've tried.

You guys had perfect vocals for this tune. The groove was perfect!

I'm gonna go find a TUB !

The other player is a gal, bro, but she does sing in what I would call "alto". She probly could've capo'd at
the second fret and been more comfortable...wouldn't make any dif to me playin' tub, it's all by feel. She's a pretty good singer....

If you get a tub, try to find one that isn't made in China (like mine) 'cause they're really thin. I'm lookin' around for a heavier duty one than this one...it's already showing some strain around the hole in the middle. Also...a smaller diameter string and a longer "neck" than what I'm using here would be better and less strain on the top of the tub.

Made in USA tub, thats great. I know just where to get one. Sorry about the gender mix up, I thought is was a young fella with long hair.
Gonna have to work on them glasses bud.

@Doug...My paternal grandpa played one that was made out of a large milk bucket and a rake handle.
I saw it...but I never heard him play it. :(

@mset3...I heard that SRV used big strings for tone...so mine is a 96. ;)
