okay so i'm trying to teach myself how to construct scales (major scales) on my own and i've almost solved this puzzle but my question is does it matter if you refer to certain notes as sharps or flats when your writing it down? for example the F Major Scale is F G A "Bb" C D E. I know the term for this is called enharmonic but if I wrote down Bb as A# when referring to scales would it make a difference?

But then you'd have two As in your scale. Musically it'd be the same.

ooooooh i see it now. your right musically it would be the same but when writing it down it doesn't really make sense to have 2 A's.Thank you karcey
