
Question about Audacity

Is this possible, or do I have to look for some differnt (free) software.........Geo.

You want to be sure you can playback & record at the same time. Most modern sound cards will allow this.
Make sure you have the Lame Encoder installed. Lame allows you to export the master file as an MP3 file. (RTFM @ Audacity)
Make sure your sound card is selected
Go to EDIT -> Preferences - >Device .....
To playback and record at the same time
EDIT - > Preferences - Recording .... check the Overdub Option. Uncheck the Software playthrough option
Import your backing track first. It will go into Track #1
Click the RECORD button and see what happens!

I have an option at the top that saves as mp3. It works so I don't think I'll need that other download.......Geo.
