File size & uploading
This computer was the wife and kids domain until recently the kids grew up and moved away so I thought what the heck and tried my hand at trying to learn how to record some of my songs. Well through trial and error (lots of error) I've gotten a few songs done. When i mixed them down I used RIFFwav format because the cakewalk tutorial recomended that format for later burnning to CD.. Well now that I've discovered this site, I'd like to upload a song or two . I understand that to upload, files must be in mp3 format, so I opened a new project in cakewalk and then imported the mixed down file(in RIFFWAV format) and then exported it in mp3. Well I still get the uploading error message.. I understand the size limit is 10 MB for mp3 files so I guess i need to know if there is a way to compress this file or if I need to re-record the tune using less tracks and less plugins to make the file smaller????????????? Any suggestions

Are you using Audacity? An easy fix is to get a stand alone free converter like cheetah

Rule of thumb is 1 meg per minute so you can in theory upload a 10 minute tune though few are likely to listen to a song of that duration. Have you hit properties to see the actual size of your mp3 and to make sure it actually converted into mp3?

Hi Cliff
I use cakewalk also, when u convert to mp3 u have a choice for the quality, if u converted at 320kps then the file will be large, try converting at 128 kps that will give u a much smaller file

Hi Cliff again
yes u need the mp3 encoder, it is free with cakewalk, u just have to sign up for it, it will give u a code to enter, keep track of that code so u will always have it, the mp3 converter wont work rite without the encoder

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
