Kristal question

Hey, I learned a song with two guitar parts, and i wanted to record both of them at different times. I tried this by recording the first guitar part on waver 1, and then recording the second guitar part (with the first guitar part) on waver 2. When I played the recording, it sounded weird because it couldn't really play both recordings at the exact same time.
Can anybody help me fix this?
P.S. I use MME audio...it that maybe the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Markgp

I am a novice at Kristal so this is by no means conclusive. I am doing the same thing myself at the moment, recording the rhythm and then adding in the lead. I am doing the exact same thing as you are but I do not have both wavers recording. I record the rhythm on waver 1 and then switch off the the recording function (Not Recording) and then switch on waver 2 to record the lead. The problem I have is finding the timing so I experiment until I can find the proper spot to come in with the lead (this took some time for me to get down pat). When you rewind it then you can hear "both" guitars. Also, I don't think the MME route is the way to go. You have to download a little program called ASIO4ALL (read Tekker's instructions for Kristal in this forum, EXTREMELY helpful!! Plus I believe the link for ASIO4ALL is there). Hope this helps. Like I said, I am still in the learning stages myself!! Good luck

Forget all that macho s*** and learn how to play guitar

If you have a problem with a track playing back 'later' than it was recorded - you have latency occuring...

If you follow Tekker's guide to setting up Kristal - you will find a section on setting up ASIO drivers on this page...
. If you find your sound card doesn't have ASIO drivers and you need to install and setup ASIO4ALL - you will find a download link and setup tips on this page...

If you follow those steps I'm fairly sure your latency problems will be cured

*addition* I am assuming that before you record you have stopped any backgroung programs running (including antivirus/firewall after stopping your internet connection ),
defragged your harddrive etc. you'll find detailed tips on setting up your PC for recording here.

Tat should cover it, hope to have helped.

Mick

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
