Kristal volume troubles

Hey everybody , I read the posts about Kristal engine and I downloaded it and it's really cool. I read all the steps written about installing and setting up, but i'm still having troubles with the volume. I hooked up my guitar to what i think is the right spot (view attachment)
(The integrated audio section in the picture is the only part that would work; the green one is used up by the speakers (I think) and the blue and pink sections are free. The pink one has a microphone symbol and that one worked best.)
Anyways, I muted the "line in" on the volume settings, and made sure that the "line in" on the recording section was checked. I then opened up Kristal Audio and made sure the input and output parts were right, then I recorded. When I was done recording, everything seemed to be right, but I had to turn up my speakers all the way to properly hear the recording.
Anyways anybody with this? Thanks a bunch!

If you can't get enough volume with the line in, then try changing to mic in (pink). Make sure the 20DB boost button is checked in the recording panel mic advanced dialog. Then use the mic record level to get the level you want. If after that you find it too noisy you should think about a Direct In box, Mixer, or some other sort of volume booster or preamp and switch back to the line in.

Hey Markgp, welcome to the forum.

How does the waveform look in Kristal? Does it look like a pretty good sized waveform like in my attatched screenshot or does it look smaller (lower in volume)?

If it looks similiar to my screenshot, then in your soundcard's mixer window make sure the playback volume for Wave and Master Volume are turned up enough to get a good volume. Also what kind of a speaker system do you have? Does everything else (mp3's, videos, etc) play at a good volume on your computer?

You could try running through an effects box/pedal to the line in to bring you signal up - a lot of effects will act as a preamp to help your level out.

I couldn't help notice in the pic you attached that you have a creative SB card fitted... It would be better to record through that if possible (through line in), You will probably need to disable the on board sound and enable the sound blaster to get this to work ( to get to these follow this path... control panel > system > Hardware tab > device manager button > sound video and game controllers).

Hope that helps, tell us how you get on...

If your wave looks like mine, then there is no problem with the recording level. It's gotta be something with the playback volume.

Inside Kristal press F3 and see where your volume faders are on the mixer. The faders default level is 0dB so see if these got turned down somehow.

When you press play where does the master and track volume meters come to in Kristal?
