How do I convert a large AVI file to something a lot smaller

My friend Richard and I jammed today, and we played "Don't think twice, it's alright" by Dylan - and Richard set his digital camera up nearby us and got a fairly decent video of us playing it. It's only about 4 minutes long, but it's 290MB in size! Obviously it's recorded in really high quality - so I guess I have to reduce it down both in size of the picture and quality of the picture - right?

How do I get a 4 minute AVI down from 290MB to under 10MB so I can post it on this site??? Do I have to cut out part of the video or is it possible to shrink something this large down enough and keep all 4 minutes in there?

Thanks!
Jim

Hi Jim,

I know you can import avi files into Windows Movie Maker and compress them there.

I posted this for Kush a while back, just ignore the the fact that I'm telling him about a wmv file. It should work exactly the same for an avi. -Video- Tears In Heaven (Incomplete) - Kush

Hope it works.

Cheers

Clancy

Thanks Clancy!

I'll give it a try.
