You can use a pedal like bad monkey as a preamp. You could take a line out from your amp to the in on your sound card with an adapter.. Go to the line in through a guitar modeler or mike the amp or acoustic..
You will need recording software. audacity is quite popular here. It is a free download.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
you need an quarter inch to eigth inch adapter, quarter inch is the guitar cord size and eigth inch is headphone and computer jack size. you can get them at any radio shack. Instead of an adapter i got a cord that has is quarter inch on one side and eigth inch on the other. i used to use an adapter, but because of the weight of the guitar cord and i had a little wear on the jack so i switched over. this is the cheapo way, above is much more professional.

If you are using audacity for the first time you will have to google for Lame and install the file where audacity can find it to convert wav. to MP3s.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
