Connecting Mic To Pc

Hi All

I'm so Happy to tell you all that I've ordered a SHURE SM-57

I just want to know one thing about this, This will have a XLR -outcable, but how do convert it to a pin, which I can give in to my Sound-Card ??

Is this one useful : Microphone transformer for low Z to high Z

or a Converter like this one is better :

Please help me out Guys !!! Getting very excited here

Thanks and Lots of Regards

Kush

Remember the DI box? That's what you use it for. You'll still need an adapter to go from 1/4" jack plug to 1/8" mini plug to put into the AUX IN on your sound card.

Hi UGB

I remember the DI Box, but for that, you had said that it'll be OK, if I connect the mic to the Locally bought "MIXER/PRE-AMP" and the to the PC. Am I Rite ???

But my doubt is the INPUT to the PRE_AMP is a MONO-PIN and the Mic's OUTPUT is XLR. I want to know how do I convert the XLR-----> TO MONO-PIN, so that it can be Inputted to the MIXER/PRE-AMP, and which of the above is a good choice for this ?

Kindly help me Sir

Lots of Regards

Kush

I didn't know you got a mixer. What mixer did you get? Most have at least one channel with an XLR input.

Sir, I got a Pre-Amp (locally Indian-made) but of a descent electronics company. It has 5 Mic-Inputs and one out-put. This is a mixer, is'nt it sir ? I really dont know what a mixer is and how it looks like, but on the box its written "Mixer and Pre-Amp". It doesnt have a XLR slot though. Will this do ???

Sir, I was adviced that a Condensor Mic would be better for an Acousti Guitar, rather than a Dynamic Mic, but none is available here locally. Does this seem like a good one ?

It sounds like you got more of a small patch bay. I'm talking about this:

That mic is probably pretty good. I use an MXL mic, not that model though, for my vocal and guitar stuff.
