Audition 1.5 problems

I've wasted a day trying to get Audition 1.5 to work like it always has ... until now.

Here's what's happening:

I record a track. When I go to do an overdub over that track, I play along, I hear it OK in my phones, but when I play it back, it gets progressively more and more out of sync ... earlier than it should. In other words, the first few bars are in sync with track 1, then as it gets into it, it sounds like I'm playing ahead of track 1. By the end, everything's a full second or so too early.

It's driving me NUTS!

Any ideas?

I am no expert but I had something similar with Audacity on my old Windoze PC. I could record one track no problem and if I tried to record another then the playback of the first track slowed due to the processor not being able to keep up. I found this confusing as it was a decent spec PC and should have been fine. It turned out that I was running live effects on the tracks and the processor could not keep up. Also I had spyware/malware hiding on my PC that also hogged the processor.

Hi Kirk, Heres what I would check ....

Under "options" be sure "synchronize clips with edit veiw" is ticked.

Under "options">Settings>general>...tick "live up-date during recording"

Under "options">settings>general>multitrack>...tick "correct for start sync in recordings"

If those are already ticked or don't fix the problem, I would reset to the default workspace...."options">settings>general>...button for "restore default workspace" this usually clears any problems I have.

I've also had for some unknown reason a second auditions app running in the background, check in "task manager" if it shows two versions/programs running it will effect the processing times. I doubt you have this problem, I think I self inflicted this upon myself with all the unistall reinstalls I used to do with this app.....but thought you might take a quick look anyways.

Thanks, guys. I found out what happened. My son stayed over for a few days and decided he'd upgrade my computer. He downloaded all kinds of stuff and I guess some drivers that weren't compatible. Yesterday, I first tried to "Repair" Audition rather than remove and re-install. I figure it would indeed repair anything that was wrong, or at least alert me to the fact that something was still out of kilter. Today, when I finally removed the program and re-installed, it worked fine.

Moral of the story: Never let anyone tamper with your computer, even a well meaning son!
