Steinberg Sequel

Has anyone heard anything negative of Sequel. I'm trying a trial demo version and so far I like it and considering purchasing. Thanks for your response

I haven't heard anything bad about it..... Then again, I hadn't heard of it at all till you mentioned it.

I did a search for it on one of my recording forums and nothing came up. So if no one's talking about it, that may not be a good thing.

After a quick google search, it looks like it comes with a lot of loops and VST instruments, but you can also get backings and VST instruments elsewhere for free ("legally") without having to pay extra.

Before committing to a purchase, I would check out the demo for Reaper (which is unlimited and non-expiring). Reaper is only $40 but don't let the price fool you, it may have a very low price tag but it is packed full of features that a lot of very expensive audio programs don't even have. Plus the program is updated daily and the developer actually listens to the users (which is very unusual. )

It looks like Reaper just got updated to v2 which I haven't even used yet (I still have one of the v1 demos)..... So it's probably been improved significantly since I've last used it even. I'm gonna have to check it out as well.

Reaper is THE fastest growing program on the market and if it keeps going at the rate it has been, I may be dumping my recording program for Reaper one of these days.

I've heard about Sequel, but I didn't try it. It comes with a huge library of loops. If your work depends of loops and looping it is fine program/sequencer. But,i my opinion, it has a lack of efects and very unconvinient way to use them. (at least unconvinient to me!)
If sequel meets you needs why not?

If you are more in recording live instruments, you might consider to try Reaper or any other DAW/sequencer on the market.

I use Reaper and it is a very fine program, since is $40, unlimited and non-expiring, and sequel is $99, and

anyhow.. kepp playing and recording!

+1 to Reaper, after trying Krystal, Audacity and Ableton Live I can truly say that at $40, Reaper is the best deal going.

Thanks for responding. I looked at the 'reaper" website. I'm not that knowledgeable of the DAW's available now, but as I was looking at the different screen shots of the reaper, it doesn't look very user friendly to me. I am trying the Sequel demo and so far it seems somewhat user friendly to me and I need all of that I can get. There's still alot I need to know, but at least I can get far enough to actually recording a song. So far, I like the demo though.

Reaper does have a lot of "advanced" features, but that doesn't mean you have to use them right away (or at all). The main project window in Sequel actually looks a lot like Reaper.

At the basic "record and play" level, most recording programs are very similar and it's only a matter of learning how each program does things.

I'm working on a tutorial for basic recording that'll have a general step-by-step procedure (starting from scratch) on how to get started recording. Then this procedure will be demonstrated (with pictures) in a few different recording programs: Kristal Audio, Reaper, and Samplitude (my recording program) to show how similar they are. Unfortunately school has been hammering me so I haven't been able to work on it much recently.... But hopefully soon, I'll be able to get it finished.

Thanks Tekker for responding. I will be looking forward to your tutorial on this. I'm sure it will help me and others understand more on how these DAW programs operate. I currently have Cubase LE and I still don't know everthing about it, but enough to get by. Thanks again
