I think that you should try to cut high frequencies (about 18000-22000 Hz).

The problem is when you cut some frequency range, you cut music too... You should experiment with an eq.

I'm sorry for spelling or grammar mistakes I did because I'm from Croatia and I'm still having hard time writing English.

The best place to remove noise is before you get it. Are you trying to recover some playing from the past? Is it that important? Maybe just play it again.

One of things I love about Adobe Audition is the 'Noise Reduction' feature ... All the lessons I do here are recorded in my office with the various PC fans and the aircon running, all of which wind up on the recording. I always record a couple of seconds of just the room noise, then when I'm done recording the guitar, I tell Audition to analyze that room noise and then remove it from the final recording ... like magic it all disappears.

I'm sure other programs have this same feature ... Audition is great though, a little pricey at about $300 but worth every cent. It's by far the most intuitive and easy to use I've ever tried.

Where are you getting it for $300 Kirk?
I paid over $500 for it, probably closer to $600 from memory...

Edit: Forgot to say, that i do the same as Kirk. Its a real neat feature.

You can do something similar in Audacity but the results aren't always that good.

I use Cakewalk's Pyro 2004 for that, it cost me $40 at best buy, u can use it to record ur albums, cassettes and cd's to ur computer, it has a button to clean and enhance ur recordings that works pretty good, i've been using it for a couple years and have all my albums and most of my cassettes recorded on my hard drive, and it will convert them to mp3's of just about any quality u want

Chuck

PS but if u want to record a bunch of tracks and mix them, then the programs the guys are talking about would be better

If you were to say, make a drum bass and keys BT in Guitar pro, export it as a wav/midi, you can add that into Audition. But you cant actually write the backing track with Audition...

The basic features are all fairly simple to use. Ive been using it back when it was Cool Edit Pro, for probably 4 years, and i fear ive only scratched the surface of what it is capable of.

Hmm,

https://store2.adobe.com/cfusion/sto...thod=FULL&NR=0
looking at that, the current going rate is A$605. So Clancy comes to the rescue in answering another dumb question.

No, not a dumb question Matty... actually if memory serves me right (and it often doesn't ) - we bought three Adobe products at once in a package. Audition, Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements... although I can't see that package available so maybe I'm losing my mind. I know the three products came to $688 Australian Dollars and they were not upgrades or Academic versions.

This is where I buy most of my software - http://www.advancesoftware.com.au/adobe.htm - they seem to be the cheapest around - They have Audition for $547 AUD. Also, Kirk has Audition 1.5 not 2.0 so it was probably a bit cheaper back then.
