Ovation Celebrity 0026

I have an ovation celebrity 0026 I have been playing about 2 years mainly open chords The 1st thru 4th frets are deeply worn and fret board is wearing quite a lot. It is still playing very well still(no fret buzz) but it is getting worse. Is this something that can be easily fixed and about what cost. Does Ovation sell these frets or are they just standard? Also looking for a new Bridge string (plastic bar that strings cross over)(maybe a better quality material).

I have the same guitar. If you put a new bridge *saddle* on it and like it, please tell us about it. AFAIK, you just buy fret wire and put it in yourself. But I think it would require a bit of experience and maybe some tools like a fret press, files, etc..

In the reviews I read on harmony central it seems this is a sub $300 guitar. A re-fret is going to cost you, locally, $12 per fret + $70 for a fret level and polish. That would be $310 for a 20 fret guitar. I'd buy a new a guitar.

Yeah, I think I paid $230 total, plus the case was extra. If it was me facing those prices I would use the guitar as a learning tool and practive my own fret repair. However, $12 x 4 frets only = $48. Maybe he could get away with getting it fixed for under $100.

Thanks for the input.
I will keep playing it untill it starts to play differently. It is a cheap guitar but I love the way it plays and sounds thru Amp. I will try to get the fret wire and change out the worn frets and level it myself, I already setup action and the neck by myself. I have plenty of tools I'm sure I can work something out. If not I have my eyes on a new Ovation LX series.
