Guitar Neck Adjustment

i tryed to see how to adjust my neck on my guitar, but the form seemed to make it so complicated. Can anybody break it down for me and sum it up a little bit?

What exactly are you trying to adjust? The relief (which is the amount of curvature in the neck)? The string height (aka "action")? The frets? Something else?

The easiest way to fix it is to put on heavier strings if the relief isn't to far out. You need to do this first.

Tune your guitar to 440 concert pitch. Capo the first fret. Fret the 6th string at the 15th or 16th fret. Take 2 business cards and slip them between the 6th string and the 7th fret. Do the cards actually lift the string up to squeeze in? You need to add relief. This means that your guitar probably had low action but buzzed pretty badly when you played. Do the 2 business cards slip inbetween the 7th fret and the 6th string without touching either? This means you need to take away relief. Your guitar probably has high action and no buzzing.

Hmm. Put on new strings. Sometimes the strings the factory puts on are really poor quality. That might stop the buzz. Are all the strings buzzing or just one?
It could also be a problem with the nut or saddles. Hard to pin down with so little info. If the strings still buzz after you have put on new ones, take it to a tech. Needless to say make sure it is properly tuned using a tuner.

-Do the strings buzz when you play them open..??
-Does the buzzing come through your amp or only when it's unplugged..??
-Are there any dead notes on the neck..??
-Is it buzzing when you play all the strings together, or one at a time..??
-Did you notice if any of the hardware is loose..??
-Is the guitar in tune..??
-When you sight down the neck, does it look perfectly straight, does it dip away from
the strings or towards the strings..??
-Did the strings buzz when you played the guitar in the store, or did they start buzzing
when you got it home..??
-Can you isolate the strings that are buzzing, or do they all buzz..??
-Does the buzzing go away if you play a barre chord..??

electric guitars, if it is an electric, usually have the action set low enough that the strings due buzz but it shouldn't come through the amp.
