  Help! My strings popped off!

Okay, I am totally new to the guitar. I had my "baby blue" on the guitar stand and something wasn't right and it fell off...(TWICE)! Nothing looked damaged but the next time I went to play it it was out of tune so I tried to tune it up. BOING, the D string popped off the nut and then the next one...(5th string?)

WHAT DO I DO!!!! Did I do something terrible??? Is it bent or something? I feel like such doofus!

What do you mean the strings "popped off the nut"? Did the nut break, or the strings? Or did something else happen?

I just typed the longest messag and lost it....basically I said that nothing appears to be broken. The string didn't break, the nut didn't break (to my knowledge) the two strings just won't stay in that "groove" on the nut.

Sounds like you might wanna have that looked at luvmyroots... If the strings won't
stay in the grooves, it means that there is tension of some kind pulling them away...!!!
This could simply be that you have the strings wound the wrong way around the tuning
post... Or, the neck sustained some damage when it dropped... In any case have it looked at...!!!

PS. Can you post a pic...?

What kind of guitar is it? Does it use a string tree or roller tree?

I Dont know if you know this or not, but..

WHen you take it to work dont put it in the trunk of the car. Or it can take a fair amount of damage even if it is warm outside and it is in a case.

Sounds to me like the nut slots are not deep enough.
