The who had not strings

Hello:

I'm looking to buy a nice used acoustic guitar (a taylor) and its selling for much less than half price. Advantages: No signs of use. Disadvantages: has not had strings on it for a year! I can't tell if the neck's "bow" has been effected without the strings as a reference and would like to know: how much would this condition effect the neck and could a simple truss rod adjustment return the bow of the neck to normal? I never thought taking the strings off my guitar for a long period of time was a good idea so I don't have much experince in this area. Opinions? Feel free to IM me if have yahoo messenger.

I, for one, would insist upon stringing that guitar up and checking it out to the point I'd tune it, play it, adjust it, then keep it tuned for at least a week to see if the neck was going to move. That's a total crap shoot man; the neck could be gold, it could be junk, you'll never know until you string it up and check it out. If this is an auction and you're buying it sight unseen and not tested this way, I'd pass personally.

Its a 3/4 scale baby taylor selling for $120. Doubt the guy will string it so I'll pass. Thanks for the advice.

well.... the only saving grace w/a Baby Taylor is that it has a bolt on neck. With this knowledge, I might persue finding out what it would cost to replace the neck if I had to and still see if it was a bargin. I bought a used, 3 month adult owned, Baby Taylor with a gig bag for just over $200 I think. I sold it about a year later for $215.

Yes even the necks on the regular Taylors produced after 1999 are easier to replace than other guitars therefore at a lesser cost

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
