Guitar has no sound!!!

I have an electronic Ibanez guitar, which i've owned for some time now. Just recently, there has been no sound coming from it. I usually have to push my chord in at a weird angle for the amp to pickup sound. The chord and amp work fine. It's just the guitar. I beleive that my problem is the output jack. I was about to buy a new output jack off some website, when I decided to see if it'll be an ez install. When I took my current output jack out, I saw that there were 2 small wires connected to it. Now I'm wondering how to get these wires off it, and install the new output jack.

You most likely have to unsolder them to get them off. There isn't a whole lot that can go wrong with the input jack. Since both wires are firmly attached, it might be the part inside the input jack that needs a bit of a bend to get it into firmer contact with the body of the jack.

thanks for the reply. In the event that the output jack needs more than a bend, would it be an expensive repair at a repair shop?

I wouldn't think so. The jack is pretty cheap and the tech would just be unsoldering and resoldering 2 wires.

are you sure it isn't the cord? I had that issue, and a new cord fixed all issues.

I'm guessing you used the cord with a different guitar?

I had also used a friend's chord and had the same issue.

The output jack problem is pretty common. Not sure of what it is called, but the 'arm' where the jack sits can be pushed back after taking the lead in and out, and the connection is not as good as it once was.
The soldering job is pretty simple to fix that, so a tech shouldn't charge you too much - or you could do it yourself.

Now that you've got the jack out of the guitar body, you should be able to see how the contacts touch the end of the cable. Often all that's needed is a bit of bending to make a tighter fit. If the conact is firm, then think twice before buying a new jack ... as AT said, there's not a lot that can go wrong.

Hehe, I was actually picturing you pushing your chord in at a weird angle until I read the next sentence.
