Strange Fret Buzzing

Hello. I just bought an Epiphone Les Paul Standard from MusiciansFriend. On the 12th fret, every string frets out, and on the 12 th fret G string, if I press lightly it plays the 13th fret sound but if I press harder it just frets out on the 12th fret sound. Is this fixable (for free) or should I just return the guitar and ask for a replacement. I have already done this once, as the 2nd fret on the B string fretted out on my last try for the Epiphone Les Paul Standard.

Go to the tech forum and check out the string buzz thread. You might need the truss rod adjusted and have the intonation looked at. Was the guitar set up at the place you bought it from? Did you change to a lighter string gauge since you bought it?.

The guitar just came in the mail a few hours ago. No, I didn't change the strings. I'll check the truss rod and intonation to see if they're alright.

There you go. It most likely was not set up before being shipped. Take it into a guitar shop and have it set up if your not comfortable doing it yourself. It is well worth the price.

Unless you have an incredibly cheap, old electric, they all have truss rods.

I have it in black too.

Well, I'm going to send the guitar back simply because the neck has some wierd paint defect, but when I receive my new guitar, if it has any wierd buzzing, I'll be sure to try settig it up myself. I'll notify you in about a week's time.

If the new one has the buzz, take it to a LOCAL Epi dealer. The warranty should be covered by ANY Epiphone dealer. And, since Guitar Center is part of the MusiciansFriend family, they should have a tech nearby, if not on site, to make any minor adjustments for you...FOR FREE!!
