Bridge Pins.

Hi

Small tech question, I need to buy some new bridge pins for my Yamaha 12 string as they've seen better days, I was going to buy the usual ones but have seen some Brass pins which apparently are supposed to be better than standard ones, they are a bit more expensive but I don't mind if it improves performance, just wanted to know if anyone's used them or if anyone has an opinion on them.

Cheers

Chris

Any pin that is made of dense material s going to transfer the vibration of the strings to the body more efficiently. Brass is good. There is a whole industry in exotic pins because of that. Mammoth bone pins are at the top of the list. Hard wood pins, brass, I have rhino horn pins on one of mine.

Thanks Allthumbs, heard they improve the guitar sound, didn't know there were so many types, saw one site selling fossilized walrus tusk (honest) bit expensive though.

Cheers

Are you trying to get better sustain also?

Yesterday was history, tommrow is a mystery, today is a gift. I'm moving on and starting over. There are things that have been done and past. You cannot change what's done but you can change what has not been. I will fall down and I'll pick myself back up again.

I've used them. The ones I got were called Tone Pins (lol I had asked for BONE pins) I didn't care for them on my guitar, but my daughter loves the brightness of them in hers. I guess its all in what you like

If everything has a point, well then I must have one, too.

Yes if I can the 12 string has quite a big sound, so if you've got any ideas I'm into it, I haven't got an electric yet, looking at a Les Paul copy at the moment, I was also looking at an Ibanez artcore (think thats the name), I know you're into Ibanez do you know this one. I was passing through the chat room the other day and you were there, sorry I didn't say hello I got called away from the computer, going off thread a bit here.

Cheers
