Thanks for the post Mattz196, great information. Kind of goes with the Growing Your Guitar thread that was posted a little while ago. It would seem that the wood of a guitar does have a memory and does change with use and vibration.

Interesting. I was taught to stretch the strings from the bridge instead of from the nut. I wonder if it has to do with pressure on the bridge or if it is something else.

I don't know. I haven't heard of a preference. I tend to stretch them from the middle.
