This Might Interest Some Members with GAS

Just spotted this 'new' technology for plugging the guitar straight into your USB port. I don't know if it really is 'new' but if you are interested, it's at:

Personally, I think a nice pre-amp is more worth it.

If you're willing to spend the $300 on the pre-amp, bump up to $400 and get the Line 6 PODxt Live...

Not only can you use it as a usb recording interface and get all those great fx and amp models... But you can take it on the road and hook it into your amp and get them all.

I agree. I think I'd rather buy some of this stuff, similar from other manufacturer or mixer with USB, all of which I can use with my existing guitars.

Oops! I thought this was gonna help a member with gas!

Just kidding! I read the ad and thought that if the axe were any good, it might be fun to mess with. I don't know much about recording yet. I just launch Audiacity on my iMac and crank up the amp loud enough to cover the buzzing of the fans and drives and all, then bring the volume down on playback.

If I ever get serious about recording, the other posts had some good recommendations. I just have to keep an eye out because not everything is Made for Mac yet. Sometimes I wish there was some one out there like Tekker that could do the same kind of material for Macs. Yeah, I know, some day I'll buy one of those new Intel models with a Windows booter, but that's a couple thousand bucks away yet.

Thanks, all.
John

Just buy a PC for doing music stuff and be done with it. With the money you'll save you can buy more guitars and increase your software choices a hundredfold.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
