settings

alright ive been playin my acoustic for a little less than a year and now i have my electric i want to know if there is an easier way to copy the guitar settings for a song than jus guessing. i have a Peavey 258 EFX amp but no pedal do i need a pedal if my amp has effects like chorus, tremelo, ect..? for example how would i do the settings for "seize the day" 's solo? thanx for any advice or help.
