Customizing a Squier
Just a few quick questions.
- If I were to order standard Fender stratocaster parts would they fit/work on a Squier strat? (knobs, pickup covers)
- What kind of paint would be suitable for a pickguard?
- How hard is it too remove a pickguard, pickups .etc and to succesfully install them again? I've really had no expierience in this area before.
Thanks.
EDIT: I noticed this should probably be in Guitar Tech?

1) Yes they would, they fit on my Starcaster Strat
2) I would think any paint as long as you sand it and prime it first... But be safe and go with Krylon Fusion
3) I did it... A month after getting my guitar. If you aren't technically inclined, it might be tough. But it really is straight forward.

re: #3 question- it's pretty easy to change out the innards of most electrics. Check out this video to see how to change pickups in many guitars:

Or, you can go really easy, like I did for my Squier Strat and just get a new pickguard that already has new pickups, switch, knobs, etc. already on it. All I had to do was pull out the old one and make 2 or 3 solder joints, and I was done.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
