Guitar Storing
If you don't use your guitar for a long period (12-14 months)
Should you untension the strings or leave them tensioned?

Take the tension off. Unplayed acoustics left under tension tend to start pulling the bridge up. That raises the strings to the point where the guitar is unplayable. If caught early enough, the bridge can be shaved down to bring the string height back down.

I'll steal the thread and ask a question about guitar storage...
Some people I've met has said that hangers are VERY bad for the guitar, that the wood might start to break up because of the weight etc...
Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

Even if it is true... Simple fix, mock up a bracket to sit under the bottom edge of the guitar to free the headstock of any weight-pull.

Your best bet is to send the guitar you plan to store to me and I will keep it and play it ocasionally, just to keep it in good shape and you can get when you need it again. I am always open to help out a fellow musician so just let me know, I have some slots for electrics and acoustics right, especially a santa cruz or a froggy bottom...

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
