I think you need GearBox. It's a free d/l. It's the same software you use with Guitar Port, which is what I have. I recommend that you d/l and install the drivers before you hook up the USB to the computer. This eliminates potential problems. Then install Gearbox and reboot the computer.

Your computer may not be recognizing the XT Live on the USB. Or you don't have the XT Live selected as the device in GearBox. Look at menu item Edit/Preferences. The tab with MIDI/Control show allow you to see if the XT Live is detected.

You should see a line of pedal like icons right under the Amp simulator. The whammy should be in there. The GuitarPort doesn't have a whammy. I also noticed that whammy doesn't show up in the help file.

Download the program "Line 6 Monkey" from the line6 support page. Run it and it will check your system and bring in a correct function. With the monkey download "Line6 edit", it`s a perfect match to your Pod.
Hope it will also resolve your problem.

You have got your POD plugged into your computer with the usb cable haven't you?
There's a square socket at the back. The do as rorysfriend suggests.

You say you want to play country, but you're in a punk rock band.

This page says that the whammy is included with the Pod XT Live...

http://line6.com/podxtlive/effects.html

I wonder if you need an upgrade or maybe you need to purchase an expansion plugin for GearBox. The website is confusing about what's included in the plugin pack.
