Boss-gt8
im going to be getting the BOSS GT-8 for Christmas. I have looked all over the internet and cannot find ANY patches/presets for this product. I want to be able to cover U2 I was told by many people that hidden somewhere in the GT-8 are almost every sound U2 creates. Does anybody know how I can bring them out, or even where to look online besides google and stuff???

Johnny,
I just visited the Boss Website. They have a pretty comprehensive explanation of the GT-8 there. And a demo video as well. There was no mention about presets of famous artists. It sounds more like a unit that You design the tones and amps you want.
That being said, there is a link to a person, sounded like one of their engineers, that has patches you can download. I didn't get to see what they covered since I would have had to download them before any additional info was given. Those might be the presets, not sure.
I do now this, it sounds like a pretty neat machine. You can run TWO amps simulation at once. You can run a regular amp, then activate a lead amp by picking harder or hitting a footswitch and the two amp function kicks in, one being set for Lead tones.
Plenty of effects to run, too. And the Control pedal is pretty neat how it controls not just the effects but can be programmed to control how you switch from "lead" to clean and back.
I would think you could duplicate ANYbody's tones with this thing!!! Looks really good!

Go to GT Central, and there is a forum for GT-8 patches.
I have a sound I use for 'Where the Streets' and 'Beautiful Day', and it comes pretty close.
The sounds you mention are not presets within the box when you get it - there is one U2 sound from memory, but I wiped the first 40 sounds or so and created my own for my guitars and for specific songs I play at gigs. With a bit of time you can get pretty close to most tones around.

Thanks so much for your help, and with that being said, the gt8 does sound like a do it yourself kind of thing like you said. from there, how would I create a tone like u2's? is there any site out there that could help with that?

Seems like Scotty B's recommendation above would be a great help for you.

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
