Acoustic Amps

I am a newbie and am looking for advice on an Amplifier.Amp would be used in my den or only for small group settings. I will pay for quality. I play a Taylor 314E but have never plugged it or myself in. After a little reserch, I am leaning toward the smaller Fender amps.

Also, any info on methods or capabilities to record onesself.

This is as close as you can get to a boutique amp that is mass produced. I would get it myself if I could afford it.

There is one going for 900 on Ebay at the moment.

That`s a nice amp AT

"A subtle coating of warm distortion (an octave above the note you’re playing) glazes the entire spectrum with a purring, golden halo of precious nuance."

I`m going to try very hard to squeeze that into a conversation.

I played a number of the Fender acoustic amps and I was not impressed with how they 'colored' the tone of my guitar. After searching around and playing a number of other acoustic amplifiers, I found the Benz Genz Shenandoah Junior. It has some great features:
  • 2 Channels with one XLR and two 1/4" inputs
  • 3 Band EQ with sweepable mid frequencies
  • 35 Watt Power Amp
  • Alesis™ DSP with 15 Preset Digital Effects
  • Phantom Power
  • 10" Woofer and Compression Bullet Tweeter
  • XLR Direct Out with Ground Lift

Check out reviews at http://reviews.harmony-central.com/r...+Jr+Combo/10/1

Doh. I missed that you were looking for an acoustic amp. I have an amp in mind. I just have to remember where i saw it.
Found it. My buddy dave of Wendler ElectroCoustics helped design a top of the line acoustic amp for his guitars.

I use either a very old Princeton Chorus twin 12 speaker or a roland AC60 for acoustic. I'm happy with the sound of the Roland for small venues - good for steel string and great for nylon string - doesn't feed back no matter how close you are.

I don't want to make a new thread for one question, so...

Can I damage the acoustic (hi-fi) speakers by getting a distortion pedal and driving my acoustic amp?

Two minutes ago I read some article about difference between hi-fi and instrument speakers. I read that hi-fi speakers can't be overdriven without "destroying" your speaker (making it unusable). Does anyone have similar experiences?
