Fender King Flat top vs Ibanez Concord 647 (copy of the Fender King)

Hi All,

I luv guitars, especially accoustic guitars. I saw an Ibanez Concord 647 (6 string) which I believe is a copy of the Fender King Flat top ('60's design). The Ibanez is in mint condition and sounds ok. But, I heard that the Fender King was sonically no match for its competitors at the time. Since I am new to playing the guitar do any of you know whether Ibanez actually improved on the sound, despite the copy of the Fender design? I don't have trained ear, and I am probably over-enthusiastic about guitars as it is my new found passion. Any knowledge or advise on the Ibanez Concord range, would be great.

Cheers,
Sundancer

That Ibanez is one of it's most popular guitars. That tells you something. I would go with it over the Fender kingman personally.

Hi Allthumbs,

Thanks for the feedback. Its a really awesome guitar and it sounds really nice, and I am really impressed with the rich dark mahogany sides and back. I'm sure you realised by now that I just love guitars.... and one day I will hopefully play it wonderfully too ;-)

Thanx for the re. Appreciated.

Cheers,
Sundancer

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
