Palmer Speaker Simulator Units

Palmer Speaker Simulators
These gadgets really intrigue me, and I was curious to know as to how they work.
I've noticed a few well known guitarists use them, but I'm kind of in the dark about them.
Would anyone care to explain to me the basics of how they operate please?

WoW! No replies!

Well reasons for no replies could be either:

1. No one knows the answer
2. Someone knows the answer but can't be bothered
3. Have better things to do with their time
4. Everyone's discovered what a terrible person I am, so won't reply
5. I'm too impatient
6. All of the above

Don't take me seriously folks, I'm just kidding!
Or am I?

Unfortunately, the above may be misinterpreted as me having a whinge about not getting any replies. So I'll just apologise now for having posted it, and admit that I had way too much time on my hands when it was written added to the fact that I was a little depressed at the time.

So for any future readers of this thread, please just ignore the whinge and the 1-6 thing. I meant no offense!

Basically, I just wanted to know if anyone knew how the Palmer Speaker Simulators worked since (like Mattz) I too couldn't find the info I was looking for on Google.

Put me down for #1, Neil - I'd never even heard of them before your post! I 'googled' them also, and didn't find anything that clarified it very much.

Here is a review of one model from Guitar Player (you'll have to cut and paste in your browser as I don't have enough posts to do a link, also add www to front of link)

guitarplayer.com/story.asp?sectioncode=8&storycode=15496

It seems like it is similar to a power attenuator that you can use to for an amp, but it looks like it can connect directly to your recording gear.

Thanks for the link Matt. I might have to read it a couple of times to understand it, but it's quite interesting all the same.

Ruffian, I tried your link but unfortunately it didn't work. Maybe I'll try a bit later.
Thanks for that anyway!
