Bad news and Good news

hey guys, my Garrison Ag-700 came in today all cracked up in the bottom. yuck the top board is almost falling off. so i called the guy he is going to refund me the money. so the good news is im in the hunt for a new guitar. I plan to go all solid wood.

do you know if the cutaway model of a guitar with electronics means that guitar is an hybird acoustic-electric guitar and that is not a pure acoustic?

thanks guy

There are non electric cutaway guitars so that can't be used as an indicator. I would consider my washburn Folk a hybred only because it is a slim line as apposed to a full bodied electro-acoustic. A pure acoustic, to my mind would be an acoustic without any kind of electronics that could alter the tone.

alt thumbs what do you mean that they cant be used as indicator? i was thinking of going for a garrison G50-CE or the G-4 with no electronics. the G50 is a cutaway with electronics. does that mean its an elctro-acoustic?

Any acoustic with electronics on board for amplification is considered an electro- acoustic or acoustic-electric, how ever you want to say it. Garrisons are nice guitars with or without electronics on board. You don't have to play an acoustic-electric through an amp if you don't want to. Just make sure it sounds good unplugged. My washburn is pretty loud unplugged, but kind of treblie being half the thickness of a full bodied guitar.

If unlike mine, it is a full body guitar then it probably will. That is not always the case though. UGB has one he gigs with that sounds great amplified and horrible unplugged, but it was specifically designed for working players who always are going to be playing through an amp. Before you buy, play unplugged and plugged in.
